The political spectrum in America is divided into various groups. The far left, and far right make most of the noise, but in actually represent a small percentage of the population. As the parties have come to be dominated by the extremists, many find themselves in middle, ...they may lean one way or the other, but tend to feel differently about different issues. We refer to these people as "reasonable and informed" Within that group are those who see both parties as merely being two sides of the same coin, oppressing all, distracting the oppressed by turning them against each other.
This is the position that the center voice of the song is offered from. The voice on the left represents the view of the left, and the voice on the right, ...well you get the idea.
