I began writing this song in 1971 and only had the chorus, until I remembered it last month.........So, I figured I would finish it.
Back in'71, things were kinda tough for me, my wife and my new daughter. Clinton was our landlord and didn't like ANY excuses for not paying him on time....So...Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Clinton Jones came today
He came for rent, I couldn't pay
He said "Hey Boy, you better hit the door"
'Cause you ain't welcome around here no more
Well, Clinton Jones came today
He came for rent, I couldn't pay
He said "Hey Boy, you better hit the door"
'Cause you ain't welcome around here no more
Pointy black boots and a cowboy hat
He wants to know where his money's at
He said "Hey boy, you better hit the door...
'Cause you ain't welcome 'round here no more"
50 Bucks a month, for a 3 room flat
Boots on the steps, Hey, where's my money at?
I said Hey Clint, I'm tryin' my best
So, here's 10 bucks boy and I'll get the rest
Well he grabbed my shirt and drug me out the door
Into the yard, sayin' Boy I need more
10 lousy bucks, ain't gonna get 'er done
I need more money sonny, you better run
Well I hit him once and I hit him again
He began to bleed, so I hit him again
I said Hey Clint, you can't intimidate me
I'll get your money sonny, just wait and see
Oh, Clinton Jones came today
He came for rent, I couldn't pay
He said my friend, you're gonna have to leave
And now my wife and child grieve
Well, Clinton Jones came today
He came for rent, I couldn't pay
He said "Hey Boy, you better hit the door"
'Cause you ain't welcome around here no more
He said "Hey Boy, you better hit the door"
'Cause you ain't welcome around here no more
