In 2008, my family and I relocated from a small town to the capital city. It was a real shift, both geographically and emotionally. For the six years prior to that move, I had experienced a lack of connection to my Grandma, who had died in a car accident that I was also involved in, when I was ten. She had been my best friend and confidante, I knew this in my mind but I couldn't feel it in my heart. The change of scenery and big change of pace, adjusting to and enjoying city life suddenly brought about many memories and emotions surrounding my Grandma. One night, while sitting at my computer, I remember feeling a presence and for the first time, I felt my grandma there with me. I cried for half an hour, and then spent another half hour composing this song. A song for my grandma, who I affectionately called "Nama".
