We Were Walking in Western Park

We were walking in Western Park,
Where you wouldn’t go when it’s dark
But the light of day, made it all ok,
We were walking in Western Park
In the ground embedded concrete shapes
As if a scene from the Planet of The Apes
An artist’s hand, had blessed the land
We were walking in Western Park
And the trees welcomed us with ease,
As if to guide us down the path if you please,
So we weaved our way, thru the Park that day
While a jazz singer practiced keys
For a while it was all downhill
But the other side was harder still,
It went steeply up, as we filled our cup
For the struggle was in turn our thrill
We were walking in Western Park
Saw a sign, what was that mark?
Just a plea, on a tree, can you please help me
Lost my dog, how I miss his bark
So we stopped at the top and sat down
Read the paper as the wind blew around
Others like us, with much lesser fuss,
Just simply lay on the ground
We were walking in Western Park,
Where you wouldn’t go when it’s dark
But the light of day, made it all ok,
We were walking in Western Park
