I will not make a prophecy on how things will come to be.
Will will all be consumed by fire, or swallowed up in the sea?
I wouldn’t think it were very wise to claim that were the last generation that will ever be.
And I wouldn’t think it was wise to just put all your trust in me.
But if I was forced to make a judgement and look into the future,
I’d be surprised if some people somewhere don’t die as a result of our inaction.
Then again I’d be surprised if this globe became a burning fireball.
It’s like we’re building a fireworks factory, without cementing the walls;
Like we’ve filled up a balloon with oil, and now we’re lighting a candle under it.
What comes to pass will come to pass, whatever we say.
But what we say will come to pass is never certain.
As long as we prepare well enough, we might be alright.
