DOG HOUSE ROSE
It’s been a month of Sundays since I parked my boots outside your door/I asked what you want from me
and all you say is you want more
I don’t know if it will ever work out this way/I try to give you comfort but there’s nothing I can say
I went down to the corner liquor store/to get me a bottle so I couldn’t feel you anymore
when I saw it through the window I knew at last/for a couple of dollars I could try to erase the past
I’ve been walking these streets at night/I’ve been out here on my own
I’ve got a dollar in my pocket/in my left hand I’ve got you a Dog House Rose
Autum leaves falling down past my windowsill/I shut out the winter and shut out the way that I feel
I’ve tried and tried so many times to let you go/now the whiskey has got my nerve up and
theres something that you should know
I’ve been walking these streets at night/I’ve been out here on my own
I’ve got a dollar in my pocket/in my left hand I’ve got you a Dog House Rose
