Last Song of the Night is a piano and tenor sax collaboration set in the late hours as the name suggests. This post modern jazz inspired piece evokes echoes of Monk and Mingus in it’s evolving fluidity. The theme bends time and key signatures with artistic effect conjuring a nightscape reminiscent of film noir. It is a blend of some tasty piano comping that is intertwined with some nice light lyrical touches on the 88's coupled with amazing and elegant rich textures of sax playing by Paul Wainwright.
