The Gospels' accounts of Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus taking Christ down from the cross / tree / upright stake, after his crucifixion as Dusk was approaching and the bodies of Christ and the two criminals needed to be removed from the Tree. On three occasions, Acts refers to Jesus' cruci?xion as 'hanging on a tree' (5.30; 10.39; 13.29), a phrase alluding to the pros_c_r_i_p_tions for displaying an Israelite convicted of a capital crime (Deut. 21.22-23)
