Friend or a foe, I think we both know
or why would I be at your door? What should I do
write an I.O.U?
is that the way we're keeping score?

Let Me Owe You Something
Let me owe you something
Fix me with a favor, and I won’t forget it
And you can let it hang over my head
With the half moon coming
And the baby’s still sleeping
Let me owe you something
Something worth keeping
And that’s not so hard at first
But then things could get worse
But if you let me owe you something
I’ll consider it a kindness first
You seem so scared of sorrow
Sad tomorrow sitting by your side
But I’m prepared to borrow
I put away my pride
Now it’s rare that I’m asking
‘cause I don’t like leaning
but if you can’t read my meaning
you got to trust your own feelings
and I’d be in debt to you
if you could get me through
to the other side
One day’s better than nothing at all
Two days later-crash and fall
Three days is more than I’d expect
We all have something we try to protect
Seems like this is one of those
Friend or a foe?
I think we both know
Or why would I be at your door?
What can I do
Write an I.O.U.?
Is that the way we’re keeping score?
Like a lizard on the left bank
With the pride of a pony
You come on like a think tank
But you’re living life lonely
And that’s not so hard at first
But then things do get worse
But if you let me owe you something
I’ll consider it a kindness first
You seem so sad and lonely
Scared and only waiting for your trial
But you could own me for a little while
Now you don’t owe me nothing
And I can get through
But I remember there was nothing
That we wouldn’t do
