There is a lot I could say about “I Won't Cry”. I will focus on a fun bit of irony. This song, though happy in tone, was conceived under extremely stressful circumstances.
It's a bitter tell, wrapped in a pop-candy shell. It's interesting to me how uplifting the melodic qualities turned out. Looking back now, on how I was feeling then when I wrote it, it's nearly laughable. The lyrics reveal all, so pay attention. It has turned out to be one of my most popular songs to date so I now am compelled to be grateful for a terrible thing that once happened.
Silver linings in the darkest of times. Thanks. -ph

I Won’t Cry Words and Music by Pete Hopkins
Ooh, I don’t even think about you, no more
Verse 1
Maybe you think you broke my heart
I’m gonna let you know dear.
It’ll take a lot more hurt than what you got
To break this boy in two
Plenty of women in this world
And I’ll find love a new dear
So don’t you trouble your girly curls
I’m not thinking bout you
Prechorus
So stop pretending I’m home ending my life
Waiting by the phone hoping you might call to
Say that you’re sorry baby, don’t be a fool.
You were never that cool
Chorus
I won’t cry, no tear in my eye
I won’t choose a course of action to give you no satisfaction
I got no despair, I don’t even care
So, go out and find another to tangle up in your loving if you dare.
Verse 2
I should have known, known right from the start
That you’d be double dealing
When we ordered in that restaurant
And you ate my meal too
But how could I foresee your appetites
Going beyond the menu
To my best friend in his new Benz (damn)
Well all the best to you two
Pre chorus
Chorus
Bridge/Solo
Chorus repeat
