MY BEEPER
I went to church last Sunday
With friends and family
To listen to the preacher
Preaching solemnly
Then he wanted a minute of quiet
Made everybody stop
To say a silent prayer
You could hear a needle drop
I went to see a movie
A cops and robber flick
When I need some time to get away
That will always do the trick
It was the tensest moment
The theatre was still
A shadow of a hand and knife
About to make a kill
I went jogging Sunday morning
And ran a steady pace
When I got home a took a shower
And started soaping up my face
I had my eyes shut tight
You know how soap can sting
The shower felt so good
It made me wanna sing
Jeepers, creeper
There goes my beeper
Beeping loud and clear
So everyone can hear
Jeepers, creeper
There goes my beeper
Beep beep dee beep
Bob bob da bop
I've got to make it stop.
What a sense of urgency,
Of Intrusion and disturbancy
A cunning smartness in it
And a tactless sense of timing
It awaits the quiet minute
Before it starts its chiming
Beep, beep da beep
Bup, bup da bup
I wish this thing would fall asleep
I never, never, never, never wake up!
