A song of hope

About 45 years ago I had a dream. I was in a big open space. There was a huge (about 20' high and 40' wide) stone slab. An old man with a long, white beard stood in front of it and smilingly waved me to come closer. When I stood next to him he touched one end of the stone slab and it slowly swung around. When I could see the backside of it there was human figure carved into the stone. The human's head was radiating as if it were a miniature sun.

A NEW MAN
The air is hard to breath and painful to the eye.
The peace we know needs weapons standing by.
Look at the river! It once was blue
I blame myself, and I blame you.
We want it easy. We want it nice.
Let the river pay the price -
Let the river pay the price.
Someone's looking down
He knows what's going on
He knows the day - Before we see the dawn
He showed me a new man - And it makes me sing!
'Cause I know what he will bring.
No more greed, a lot of love instead.
The man had sunshine 'round his head
The man had sunshine 'round his head.
We have no time, we rush from day to day
To build a world, where no one wants to stay
Think of the children, what will they do?
Will they blame me? Will they blame you?
We want it easy, we want it nice -
Let the children pay the price.
Let the children pay the price.
Someone's looking down
He knows what's going on
He knows the day - Before we see the dawn
He showed me a woman - And it makes me sing!
'Cause I know what she will bring.
No more greed, a lot of love instead.
The woman had sunshine 'round her head
The woman had sunshine 'round her head
We live for now, as if tomorrow isn’t there
And where that leads, no one seems to care.
Think of tomorrow! How will it be?
Will they blame you? Will they blame me?
We want it easy, we want it nice
Let tomorrow pay the price -
Let tomorrow pay the price.
Someone's looking down
He knows what's going on
He knows the day - Before we see the dawn
He showed me two people - And it makes me sing!
'Cause I know what they will bring.
No more greed, a lot of love instead.
They both had sunshine 'round their head
They both had sunshine 'round their head
