A sweet song with a fast tempo

music composition and recording by DH

I had been struggling with some medical issues and later it was discovered that I had two benign brain tumor. However, during the times when I was feeling unwell, I found solace in writing poetry and lyrics. That was no different following the hours after my tumor was removed. As I reflect on those events, I recall that when one of the doctors came to see me in recovery that my eyes were closed.

He said, Ruth, "can you follow my fingers."
I responded, "I don't want to follow your fingers."
He then said, “I would feel terrible if we blinded you during that surgery.”

I opened my eyes and fixed them on his face but did not follow his fingers. upon my discharged from the hospital, I had an appointment with him. I told him that I couldn't find my sweet spot, a few days after that visit while still recovering from surgery, I wrote ‘the sweet spot,’ lyrics.
I thought I lost my Sweet Spot
I began wrestling with life a little bit.
I thought I lost my sweet spot
I felt pushed far beyond my limits.

The hands of God were always there,
Even when I was drowning in despair.
The hands of God lead me to a place
And it was there, that I was repaired.

It was as if he said, hello dear.
I don't want you to quit.
And don't take your eyes off me.
Not even for a minute.

I wanted a life without scars.
So, I ignored his messages.
But in that moment I was aware.
My sweet spot had reappeared.

It was as if he said, hello dear.
I don't want you to quit.
And don't take your eyes off me.
Not even for a minute.

This is a Wow groove from lyricist Ruth Garnes , its a short although inspiring composition that reveals her inner most feelings. The musicians have embraced the song so well with a fine interpretation of her feelings struggles and challenges we as humans go through, yet we as she has, walk through the fiery trials of life. but can we come out unscathed, no but we are stronger for the trials I think. Life is a Mystery of why but the experiences we sometimes endure are a way to build us for the next challenge, good or bad. Through it all we must embrace the Magical strains of love, hope, anguish and joy. It is the indomitable spirit of the human heart that helps us survive along with our faith to see us through these times we may not understand, in the end, I think we will grasp some sense of it all
