Deal With The Devil
Look at all those cigarettes that have died there on the ground
And with this distant laughter, Reflections of a different sound
With my back to the wall, the rain drops trickle down
To mingle with the ashes and rinse this dirty city down
….And I tell myself this is the life
….Put away my frown
….Make a deal with the devil
….Be a tortured man or a clown
….Though I cannot climb too much higher now
….Without falling down
….Though I wish there was light enough to see
Soon the sun will filter through another end of summer day
Anticipating school will open, the children rush to play
Too warm to sleep, on bended knees I wish that I could pray
But this hollowness cannot separate from anything that I say
The light from a candle, disappears from my sight
Barely escaping before being swallowed by the night
But sometimes a different light, hiding in the shadows bite
Illuminates my thoughts and sends me on an angel’s flight
And I tell myself this is my dream, that things aren’t what they seem
And soon the alarm will shatter everything, like fire in a movie scene
And everything will be a rearrange to a familiar scene
Then I know there’ll be light enough to see
Holiness is just a word someone, somewhere said
Don’t really know the meaning
Guess it’s some where’s twist of fate
And I feel nothing inside of me
But I laugh with me and I laugh with you
And I cause myself to hesitate
