This is the title track of Susan Raven's critically-acclaimed debut album. It is a splendid mixture of sitars, dance rhythms and mantras with a glorious tale of spiritual flight on a rich, melodic top line. Featuring David Rhodes, that fine guitarist from Peter Gabriels band, this track is a rich and full journey of seven minutes plus of sumptuous melody and ethereal imagery.

In the sand of a desert that once was a sea
The wind carves a tale for those who want to be
Awakened to a mystery
And far in the reaches of the midnight blue
A flame that connects in the heart of me and you
Now I see we're going to

Somewhere between the dark and light
A doorway opens in for a solitary flight
And then it's round the river bend

Where I saw the glittering cities I know they are there
they radiate in splendour woven in the air
And when I rise into their realm among the stars in the sky
No more to reason why......I know I am alive

See your base metal melt to a beaten gold
And a land we've forgotten will soon unfold
This your vision to behold
So long left in darkness where only a few
Could light up a flare for the infinite view
Now I see we're going through

Somewhere between the dark and light
A doorway opens in for a solitary flight
And then it's round the river bend

Where I saw the glittering cities I know they are there
They radiate in splendour woven in the air
And when I rise into their realm among the stars in the sky
No more to reason why......I know I am alive

Meanwhile back at home it rains
Another brick has hit my window pane
And the sirens won't stop the air is thick and hot
My heart is heavy with memories of pain
Connect me here and now to the flame.....

You see the glittering cities you know they are there
They radiate in splendour woven in the air
And when you rise into their realm among the stars in the sky
No more to reason why......Just know you are alive

Suspended In Gaffa
Very cool

European World music in the vein of Gabriel or DF with a voice that grabs you and caresses you alternately.

Fountain of Youth
This song glitters like gold.

This Music is Not Yet Rated...
Captivating...

The little station that could.
A spiritual Journey through our sacred hearts. Lyrics that speak of inner truth and the true meaning of our spirit. We need more artist's like this who are not afraid to just BE WHOM THEY ARE.

RedRobin's SONGS FROM THE HEART
It's bugging me who Susan's voice reminds me of - There's a strong hint of a "White" Joan Armatrading at her best. The rhythms in this song are great and I particularly like the gritty keyboard hook. A very rich production but in balance with Susan's voice. Perhaps I'm reminded of Susan Raven!

TEXAS JAKES MILLION WATT RADIO !
beautiful!

=WILD FRONTIERS=
From the mistress of the 12 string guitar who has a voice as ethereal as the air that floats through dreams sings of the magical cities where pain and hate do not exist somewhere in the astral skies.

Farewell to Arms
Glittering Cities lights a candle in the dark and shows the shadows for what they really are

Wonderful Glittering Cities, so romantic and cosmic.

All The Best
simply spectacular

Arcadian Heights
This tune has been beatifully sculpted. The deep strings work very well and help build an unusual emotion here. The song moves effortlessly on its journey through different arenas of emotion which is built with the unusual beat, the powerful vocals and very thoughtful lyrics.

Surf's Up
More than an element of philosophy.

The Allure
