A reflection on solitude

I took the plane in on Sunday
to where the mountains never end
and there’s a desperate desolation
to this land
and there’s a desperate desolation
in my heart
blue sky fades to pink
on a mesatop
my mind, it slips away
like my hand on the wheel
and now there’s no turning back
like a child, I am lost
I’m all alone in New Mexico
there’s plenty of room
out in the desert
where darkness fades to black,
the pink blooms of the cactus
quench this thirsty land
and they surround me like the ocean
calms my swollen heart
falling falling and I fly
falling falling and I cry
falling falling and I fly
I’m all alone in New Mexico
