Slow, moving ballad (not slow-moving ballad) done with Tom O'Brien and The Pawns. Produced by Bob Elliott. Check out his tunes at IAC, too!

Harmonies and Keyboard: Bob Elliott
Percussion: Matt Perez
Music/Lyrics/Acoustic Guitar/Lead Vocal: Tom O'Brien

Sometimes you're caught up in a relationship that you know is headed nowhere and you don't know what to do about it.
You offered me
The role of a god
I acted the part of a child

You gave to me
The love of the world
I just sat there and smiled

You kiss the hand that offers
Nothing that you need
You tend the fields
Though the plants have
Gone to seed
I turn to run,
As if to stay is to concede
First I'm crying, "I can't take this!"
Then I'm thanking you
For breakfast

Few complements
Have stood by my side
You wanted to be
The first one

Your confidence
Replenished my pride
But you wanted to
Outshine the sun x

Phlegm Phavorites
Great vocals, lyrics Bob Elliot and Tom O'Brien with some killer instrumentation too. Very retro and VERY cool.

The Good Stuff 4U
Just made it into the Underground 40, and with good reason. This is a really good song. Reminds me a bit of Michael Penn, and that is a good thing! Great melody and feel. Like the strings, too.
