A ballad that the Sinatra crowd might have liked.

Music/Lyrics/Singing/Playing/Arranging/Recording: Tom O'Brien

My sister-in-law recently told me, "I'm just living the dash," meaning the dash between the dates on our tombstone that represents our life.
I can't quite imagine the end of the world
I hope that I don't live to see it
If God came tomorrow and said, "This is the end"
I'm not sure that I would believe it
There's so much of life that's a mystery to me
There are so many places I so want to see
And so many people I'm destined to meet
If I just hang around long enough

The road that I'm on is a little less hard
And fate is less fickle when you own your own cards
And something's convinced me to let down my guard
And let the world in

I may not have traveled the breadth of the world
But that doesn't mean I'm unwilling
And with all the adventures that flow from my pen
My day-to-day life's not that thrilling
But every direction has led me to you
It remains to be seen what we're both gonna do
But I know it's been worth all the pain I've been through
Just to finally rest in your arms

(Chorus)

When death comes at last and I've taken my bow
I'll go without any frustration
I'll know that my life made a difference somehow
And that will cause much celebration
It's easy to see when we come and we go
The dash in between is much harder to know
Will I meet the poet who wrote the whole show
Wen I finally cross over the line?

(Chorus) x
