Unexplainable grief! Unimaginable carnage! Niether this song or any song will be able to aptly descibe hpow I felt on that sad day

I just don't understand
I just don't understand Lord have mercy
I remember, that moment, the special report flashed on the television screen
They said that there has been a shooting, with several children dead and I could not believe
That someone would go purposely to shoot at small defenseless kids, and I just could not understand
How anyone could be so heartless
So I just sat there stunned to see the ruthlessness of what he did with horrifying visions of the carnage heaped on fallen angels.
I just don't understand how anyone could hurt the little children, oh no
I just don't understand how anyone could kill the angels, Lord have mercy
All over, a mournful nation, spread the shocking news, of the elementary school.
And the teachers, who tried to save them, how they gave their lives and did what heroes do
The evil thoughts from mentally ill people should not manifest into someone who aims to kill
anyone including children.
I will never understand how we got into this whole mess, but something must be done I feel
To help secure our schools and children.

I won't even try to lie, I watched it with tears in my eyes for the poor grieving families
And as hard as I tried, I couldn't believe this was real man it couldn't be happening
But right there on TV, were the reporters who tried to give background and history
And the president cried cause he could not hide this was truly a national tragedy
And I just don't understand, I just can't get my mind all around it
And I just don't understand, I just don't understand what a man in Newtown did
In my heart I can see innocent little souls flying up to heaven
And I pray to the Lord for each families loss and the lives that were ended
I just don't understand how anyone could hurt the little children, oh no
