I Wrote You Three Poems
Intro/Chorus
I wrote you three poems
My darling, my dear
And would read them aloud
If I thought you could hear
V1
The first praised your beauty
The glow of your skin
How a light not of earth
Shone like stars from within
I was soon held in thrall by your charms
V2
The second spoke sweetly
Of trust and belief
And the way that your smile
Brought me healing relief
I felt nothing to cause me alarm
V3
The third, oh my darling
Was darker in hue
For it painted a picture
Of someone untrue
And another man held in her arms
Bridge
Where the river goes
It takes what it knows
...How the knife in my belt
Sought my hand
And your life ebbed away in the sand
Outro/Chorus
I wrote you three poems
My darling, my dear
And would read them aloud
If I thought you could hear
