A song about what happens to me when i play live (the northern circular is a notoriously congested ring road in london)
I've a vision of this
That plays straight and true
Where I don't get trapped
In thoughts about what I do
In unison I flow
To the rhythms of life
So melodies ring clear
And fantasies take flight

But then I look up
And you're crowding me in
Stealing my breath
Revealing my skin

I'm giving my words
And hoping you're not deaf
I'm leading the blind
When I cant see my faith
And fate has a way
Of breaking my fingers apart
So I just look a fool
With nothing much to say

So this is how
I keep myself in check
So I can prove
It's not my time yet

All this time I feel I should be
Somewhere else being
Someone different
Cos here it’s all falling through
And I haven’t got a clue
Why

So I just carry on
Hoping no one sees
Fear in my eyes
Clouding reality
That I’ll be fine
Cos it's all in my head
And all that you’ll hear
Is a strange kind of melody

Then I think to myself
Is this all that I can be
A fumbling mess
Who's too ignorant to see

What leaves me going nowhere
On this Northern Circular x
