Initially it was an outro for my previous album ‘’Odd Man Out’’. It was supposed to be an acapella song. Eerie, but comforting. Short lullaby in which I ‘’encourage’’ someone to follow me and leave the symbolic cave with me (makes sense with the rest of the ‘’Odd Man Out’’ album) but I didn’t like how it turned out in the end. I thought I had the idea for it, but I didn’t, not in the slightest. So I didn’t include it in the album and let it sit in the drafts for next 2 years. Last year in September I started my job as an actress in a small theater for kids and began feeling hopeful about my life. One day I was scrolling through my music file to see if there was any song I could just experiment on, work on just for fun and I came across this outro. I didn’t have any plans for instrumental music just yet, I simply wanted to try something with that track. It’s one of those songs I worked on while being ‘’in my element’’ so I can’t tell you why or when I added the cellos, or the piano, why this exact melody came to my mind, why the other one didn’t. It just...happened. I think I finished it within a few days. I only remember that while writing that version, I constantly reminded myself that sometimes I overdo things and I try to make the song - melody-wise - more complicated than it should be. That’s why I stuck to the melodic line of the verses and just turned it into leitmotiv. It’s in the cellos, in the piano, in the harp. Sometimes a song can be interesting and rich in sound, but very simple and plain underneath.
I’m really fond of that song, because it has this interesting, comforting and nostalgic feel to it. Almost like a fantasy or peaceful sunset. Yearning for something, but remaining content in the moment. A perfect opening scene and to introduce our main character.
