All I could get out of the songwriter was that he wrote this song in his head on a bus trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. Apparently he doesn't like travelling long distances in cramped circumstances. He said he descended into a pessimistic mood and rotated this song through his brain and completed it with the morning sun of Melbourne shining in his eyes. When he got stuck for lyrics he lubricated his cells with Malibu, concealed in a silver hip flask.

Inconvenient Intervals. (russelldowsett)
When I said I needed you, every word was true.
This life has a way of interfering with, everything I do.
We are flotsam, we are jetsam, we get pushed around,
I live outside your comfort zone just listening to the sound, of
Everything I've ever said, everything I've ever done,
escapes to the world at large, like criminals on the run.
They come back and haunt me at,
inconvenient intervals.
If I could I'd wind it back to the moment I met you.
I would stop myself from buying lies that were traded on the truth.
Memories black as ravens fly around my bedroom door,
they remind me of a reckless youth and they open up old sores.
From far away a star will shine through endless frozen space,
from our insignificance, there is no escape.
In a quiet room, that ticking clock, measured out a life
of painful reminiscences, your memory ignites.
My past is a foreign country, I don't go there anymore but
I see it get reflected in the glass of sliding doors.
