When I was a young boy
In the summer I'd go
To the lake by my grandfather's home
Times were good there
Up that gravel road
Along the lake by my grandfather's home
He would tell me of a time
As a Young man he went to war
He never had to take a life
And he was thankful for
He'd row that old boat
Such a cheerful soul
On the lake by my grandfather's home
he'd never grow weary
Of all the questions that flowed
On the lake by my grandfather's home
The wisdom that he spoke of
Is what I'm trying to live today
Though it's been some years now
Since he was called away
Away
From the lake
To his savior's home
