Time for a story that you never heard
I don't know for sure if it ever occurred
but I asked this busker, he gave me his word
Then he told me his memory was blurred
It started in Sunday School, our group sang songs
I stood there conducting them, all played along
Then it was fourth grade, I got a snare drum
Turns out that I kind of had rhythm
Drums couldn't hold me, I wanted a tune
My parents then bought me a piano soon
Mrs. Linebaugh dished pop songs, I played like a goon
I had no clue where it was going
Scavenger Hunt
I wrote this song for my great friend named Kris
Needed an outlet, songwriting was this
It wasn't long before I had a list
of songs on the way to my stardom
Got an acoustic in college, found Neil
Learned chords, I guess music was now a big deal
My previous job plans, they mostly weren't real
Sold my baseball cards, bought an electric
Bought a 4 track recorder in New York one day
on Music Row, yeah, it was quite an outlay
I got my first drum machine, synth and I'd say
at that point I had all I'd need then.
Scavenger Hunt
I hobnobbed, had so many jobs
I somehow thought I was Springsteen or Bob
I bought a dimebag and decades just passed
I just couldn't force that dream to not last
cause hey, my words still rhymed
then I became, one Father Time
solo
Folks found me abrasive, cause I thought I was good
but laws of proximity told me I would
not get anywhere with my talent no way
They never convinced this believer
I reached #1 on this big indie site
Many then told me that's nothing outright
Despite all that I continued to write
and some people started to get me
Thru the years I met the greatest out there
You'll never hear them, that is so unfair
the indie Phil Spector and ladies so rare
Much better than any in mainstream
Scavenger Hunt
Had no plan, but we started a band
and now I'm quite sure we're the best in the land
Our rhythm section was a thing of perfection
My singing got better, is that my projection?
Then when we looked up from the fog
Lo and behold 'twas this great catalogue
solo
That was a story that you never heard
I don't know for sure if it ever occurred
but I asked that busker, he gave me his word
then he told me his memory was blurred
