A fun lyric with a lot of musical allusions, framed by a swingy bass and guitar and some pretty harmonies.

This guitar part is something I wrote as a standalone piece many years ago. I just wrote the lyric recently. It's about my transition from my old depressed life without love to my current ecstatic life with it! I felt it was appropriate to use musical language since music has been with me through the whole trip.

I used to live my life
In a minor key
With a melancholy
Melody
Out of tune
And out of touch
And sometimes I just
Played too much
Footloose and
Fancy-free
Then you come along
With your different drum
And the strings inside me
Start to hum
A familiar tune
I heard somewhere
Inside a dream and
You were there
A brand new chord to strum
Then
Out of the night
Like a howlin' train
Your song hit my head
Like a drivin' rain
And I sang it out loud
Like a man insane
Now, I live my life
In perfect harmony
Like the song was always
Meant to be
So, stick with me
Your safest bet
And we can sing a
Fine duet
An unending melody
Then
Out of the night
Like a howlin' train
Your song hit my head
Like a drivin' rain
And I sang it out loud
Like a man insane
