there was a time when i believed
in fairy tales and songs
they sang about a better world
a code of right and wrong
but as i grew i found that world
would crumble down inside
the ugly and the arrogant
pushed me aside
time may change the way we live
but not the way we are
earthquates winds and atom bombs
could rip our worlds apart
but the lonley and forgotten ones
will always play a part
thorns and roses
many fought and many died
to spare there country shame
each one of them a movie star
and flanders fields there fame
but the only things they ever gained
was sadness in the eyes
of little boys and little girls
they filled them with there lies
