Tenth mile from the sun - with a few extra lyrics than recorded
Deep within the city there’s no silent spot of earth
Green that fades to dusty brown, yellow only falls
Just inside a part of town
Where no one dared to breathe in
Sun was golden on the bricks beneath the city walls
Oh you and I walk together
Holding on to each other
Will we ever become free
Escape this city of fantasy
and dreams…
Oh I am waiting for you….
So fast as we can fly in our invisible machine
We’ll fly into the sun and let the fiery rainbow stream
The tenth mile from the sun and still I haven’t seen the light
A thousand pin point stars shining like lanterns in the night
Oh I walked on the moon
and I danced on the tail of a meteorite
But I never saw the light
Oh I am waiting for you…
I’m fast as I can to get to you
I disengage my capsule from the mother ship’s side
Black orchid of the darkness the eternal evening’s bride
Sails silently and slowly through the ocean of the night
Velvet wings the eagle on her eternal flight
Oh I like to float alone out here far from florescent lights
Alone with no gravity
Silence can be therapy
Our orbit is elliptical as we steer towards the sun
At speeds we never dreamed of, gathering momentum
This ball of fire grown so huge it looms ahead swallows the view
To cover all infinity, a strange excitement builds in me…
I feel warmth, I feel heat
this will be my crowning feat
check all shields, check the speed
Faster and closer
Swirling around me
Careening forward
Out of control
The black Orchid
A comet fireball….
A moment caught timeless
Everything’s brightness
Each particle of me
No shadows to be seen…
Here inside the sun I see fire beings dance round our screens
They explode into darkness then fly away again
But suddenly from the unknown the solar winds they have us thrown
Out of the sun a comet’s path into the face of darkness I laugh
Oh I’ve walked on the moon
and I danced on the tail of a meteorite
And now I’ve seen the light!!!
