The woman she cried
As the troops were arriving
They pushed her inside

And asked her in English
“Who are you fighting for?”
And forced her and her mother
To lie on the floor

They went through her cupboards
And took all the knives
And took all the photos
Of the men who survived

The doctor was told
That his staff they must leave
But all of the patients
Grabbed hold of his sleeve

And as a good Muslim
He knew he must stay
And care for the wounded

At tanks in the streets

And the children they screamed as the bullets rained down

The old man remembered
When oil was found
And since then he’s seen
Too much blood on the ground

And here was his favourite
His old loyal friend
But bullets have habits
Of bringing the end

And the streets of Fallujah
Were empty and gone
Steets of dead buildings
Just waiting for bombs

That used to be played?
The songs of a city
That died on this day

He’s always wanted
to be a marine
Like his father and brother
uniform crisp and clean

He thinks back to the horror
that he has seen
And now his demons
invade all his dreams

He thinks of his victims
and how they had died

that he has cried

Now he keeps his emotions
way down deep inside
And he can’t understand
why his president had lied

And the sound of the black hawks invaded the air
And the sounds of the jackboots that ran up the stairs
And the old women sat paralysed in their chairs

From American lies

The parents are panicked

But not about bombing
