We know that Hip hop and Rap labels can be an instant turn off for some listeners but you should remember that it's a broad church and a lucky dip as to what you might get. This one is a smooth, dramatic proclamation [anyone else hearing a touch of Boy George in there? ] Brian's a DJ and singer and as we play this we just know it's going to have a 'switch' at some point... we think it should come earlier - anyway it morphs into traditional Rap, just enough to balance the mood. Sorry you didn't get any adds before Brian - we appreciate that "You Tried"

I Wanna Mess Around
We know Will is an experienced musician, songwriter, collaborator and producer with a very eclectic portfolio, Love story, Ambient, Soul, Funk, Pop... the lot. He has a page of good songs, many without any adds and we don't think that's right. The one we chose was uploaded a while back but it won't ever date. A bit of an ear-worm lyrically and some fine instrumental content. We don't think his vocals are stand out memorable but they're definitely tight and he performs meaningfully. Hope you find your review next time you're in Indie Town Will.

Joel admits this is a "solo effort" and has an old 50s style and that's what it is. The problem is that the first few bars may not make you want to keep listening but we at SAS don't judge immediately so we're glad we stuck with this one, it grows into something quite entertaining with the pleading "take me" chorus and extra ambient synths. So we'll 'take you' Monsieur because your melody has taken us!

Show Me The Way Home
That voice sits so comfortably in this song, warm, strong, deep, tender, sincere... all those good old qualities you expect from a professional Country singer. It would be impossible not to hear this song through once you allow yourself to indulge, it's like taking a small nibble of some rich caramel chocolate, once you get the taste you can't stop and you end up licking your lips. The band gives you confidence, it's a well oiled outfit. The writers have all the right words to say and they've put just enough twist in the tune to grab your attention.

Considering this is Paul and "The Chosen Few"... Few have Chosen to add them to stations. This is SAS's second, so obviously we are fans. The compelling factor is definitely those clever lyrics. This one is crammed with opposites, twisted ideas... and Paul is so very clear with his vocals. Sure, basically this is just another Country band, but we think it goes beyond that cliche. We've "seen the light" guys !

Just a simple, endearing song! It takes a while to appreciate this one but it's a true indie songwriter's (or bedroom) production. The chords may be simple, the accompaniment does its job, but the melody is different, catchy, wordy and the vocal is sincere. In another era this could be turned into a popular song, sadly listeners seem to want professional productions or big names.

Forgotten Teenage Dream
This is a pretty good effort in all departments as a Pop/Rock song - it kicks up, gets you bouncing. We struggled to hear the story so printed lyrics would help. If you stay with it long enough you'll be treated to a good guitar solo break. We're surprised it didn't get more attention in 2015, there's certainly plenty of action, would 'teenagers dreamers' today like it, we think so, but then it's quite a while since we were teenagers or dreamers!!!!

Oh Jimmy, you deserve an add here even if this song leaves us open mouthed in disbelief. We don't want you to take this wrongly because you're a great musician with a huge portfolio, and this IS a lovely retro song BUT - Oh Boy, the vocals, especially the harmonies are so far away from tight! We think you probably agree? Looking at your profile picture we guess you must have a sense of humor ! We are fascinated by your song, it's a cross between terrific and terrible and I think people will see the merit in it. In answer to your question "Why does it have to be this way" we'd say "for an open minded, non-pedantic listener, it doesn't"

The Notes I Didn't Play
What does a guy have to do to get onto a playlist? This song has it all, our lady reviewer has fallen deep in love with Robin and this lovely song. She says it's "spine tingly, rich and mellow" The guys just think it's mushy :) Although it's perfectly easy to hear, it's always good to have the lyrics in front of you as you listen, especially if they're good ones like this.

After you hear that guitar intro you have to carry on listening and you'll find it's worth it. We're adopting this 'stationless' song because it's too good to be left in the IMP wilderness. You might not want to play with fire but you won't get hurt if you play this hot song.

We'd have thought that some Country lovin' station might have picked up on this song but Since 2016 it's had no interest. There is nothing to dislike about either the music, vocal or lyrics, it has a deep satisfying vibe and an air of professionalism. Sometimes we wonder what more an artist has to do to get noticed!

Here's another great Mike Dooley song that no-one wanted and we think that's an oversight by station managers who enjoy well written, well produced, well played and performed Country/Pop. Such a complete song with orchestral extras, a good solo and that pro sound we all wish we had. Mike is on a few stations with earlier songs but it seems the songs from his album are in the IMP wilderness.

Where are all the Hard Rock lovers at IMP? Music doesn't always have to be melodic and safe, sometimes it has to be loud, grungy, aggressive and anti social. C'mon people, artists like this should NOT be ignored - he did everything right, produced a great song, explained his thinking, added the lyrics.... and was totally ignored. How can IMP succeed if we overlook great indie songs (this was the first he ever wrote) Look beyond your IMP peers, friends and yourself, listen to all the work contained in this song then add it to your playlist!

A classic lo-fi songwriters song, maybe it doesn't have the big, fancy production but it's a good song with thoughtful lyrics tenderly sung - why couldn't anyone hear this and give it some respect before?

This is well worth a play, the catchy chorus alone will make you feel good. Don't be put off by the 'Reggae' label, there is a Caribbean feel but it's a solid Pop/Rock song with good music and vocals. The only thing we'd change is the number of verses with identical melody - it's not a long song but it feels like it. Don't 'Desert' this potential Hit!

We hear a good song but we don't hear it at its best because the mix is confusing. It would be great if the backing was pushed back and softened or the vocals were brought out more. The production also suffers from 'noise' However we love the lyrical idea, the melody and the vocals, the actual music is good too. It hasn't been a waste of time listening.

How on Earth did this classic, melodic Rock production get overlooked, it surely is a masterclass in its genre. A bunch of talented, create musicians and a powerful front man. Even the lyrics are interesting. Sometimes songs need to be forgotten... but not this one!

Unless you're big into Christianity you may always skip songs in this genre, certainly this song got no attention despite being a really good Rock song, the lead guitar alone demonstrates this. If the lyrics had been more original (which we realize is hard in this genre) I think it might have 'been heard' more at IMP

Well this is truly delightful so we're surprised it didn't get some adds - it's a tale about turning to alcohol and the message is "Don't give up" Maybe the chorus is the only weak part, it could be more dynamic but it's still memorable. I guess this band DID give up waiting for success with this one :(

Surely this is a song that has everything, something for everyone.... yet NO-ONE spotted it so far, can't think why except maybe it's too alternative. Here you have an Indie artist who does it all, does it well and takes the time to write all the lyrics - did they ever get read I wonder? Maybe this song is too much of a divergence of elements with Funky, metalic synths backing a rich female vocal that has to compete but it certainly 'slipped away' from any chance of chart success without Station adds. Well it's described as "Swamp" but it ain't exactly swamped with station adds and I don't know why. All the elements are there and it's very listenable - verses, chorus, solo/instrumental, bridge, outro - good lyrics, solid vocals - maybe it doesn't have the spark that makes the difference but it's certainly better then a lot of overrated mediocre song adds I see.
