Marty Brodell is a musician and songwriter from Saratoga Springs, New York (the home of the world famous race track). Marty started his musical journey at 8 years old on the piano. He wrote his first song at 10 years old. He has performed in various rock and acoustic outfits and has even soloed for a while playing cafes and open mic nights. Marty's musical influences range from Classic Rock to Jazz to Fusion and beyond.
Yellowstone An instrumental piece named after the most famous national park in the USA. I had the great pleasure of visiting there in October, 2018 and was completely awed. This piece features me playing my 2000 Fender MIM Jazz Bass which was salvaged from a guitar chain store and restored last winter by me. I promised D'addario Strings I would mention them and this bass has D'addario flat wound Chromes on it. Marvelous sound and feel.
Blue Malibu There's always been great songs about cars. From "Pink Cadillac" to "Little Deuce Coupe" to "Little GTO" to "Drive My Car" and of course who could not forget "Hot Rod Lincoln"! So here's my contribution to that great American tradition of car songs..."Blue Malibu".
Body Paint I love the painted ladies of Times Square, New York City. They smile and pose with the tourists and make a few bucks during the summer months. It's just good fun and HEY....it sure beats working at Walmart! This song has a touch of that country feel to it, but I consider it a rock tune with a nice back beat.
It's You and Me A moody, bluesy tune dedicated to the love of my life Kat and my best friend in the world Artie.
The Running Man, The Damaged Girl Sometimes you get put in situations that are not pleasant and downright challenging both emotionally and physically. But, that's when you learn the most about yourself. Some rock and roll for your soul.
Timeline We live, we struggle, we love. It's the LOVE that makes it all worthwhile.
What Did You Do I am often amazed at people who make the same mistake over and over with the same result. Isn't that the definition of insanity? So I read this story, jotted down some lyics and overlaid a little slide guitar. Ok, it was a little more complicated than that..but you get the idea.
We're Goin' Out Tonight A simple message-time to get out of the house and party!Let's DO IT!!
Magic of Moments Sometimes we have memories of great times. Sometimes we have memories of awful periods in our lives. Those memories are usually sandwiched together. So, if you could have that time back would you throw out the good with the bad to do things over? Hmmm...Thoughtful acoustic rock.
Pigs Can Fly A thumping rocker for the silly season (election year). Listening and reading about promises that can't be kept from people you can't trust on both the left and right. No agenda here-just a musical observation.
The Ice Cream Man There's a few other tunes about ice cream men, all with some sort of sexual innuendo. There's none of that in this song. To see the story behind the song click on the song title. Some pretty straight ahead rock with a serious point.
Caris CARIS was inspired by one of the main characters in Ken Follett's epic novel "World Without End". She's committed and strong, smart and beautiful and also vulnerable. This is pure guitar rock in the classic style.
Telephone Rage I spent all morning waiting for the washing machine repair man. No show, no call. I was a bit ticked off. But, I did write this ditty on the piano-simple, catchy, straight-on rock, built around a piano riff.
Big Fat Head Egos, money and lack of respect and manners always seem to go together. Why do those people think they are so much better than the rest of us huh?
She Could Be Danger Every guy loves those female heroine types-strong, sexy, smart and tough. They are a staple of both literature and screen. Women love them too. Some women wish they had that kind of life. Others love their glamour. Here's a fast-paced tribute to all those female heroine's out there, both real and fictional.
January Song An ode to that frosty first month of the year!
