Melissa Marquais "Coffee In Connecticut" now available on iTunes!

Melissa Lynn Marquais (pronounced /ˈmar-kay/ born December 14, 1977) is an American musician, singer-songwriter and recording artist. Born and raised on Long Island, she performed at many popular venues in New York such as the Apollo Theatre, before moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004, where she refined her skills and learned of her late Grandfathers trials and triumphs as a famous composer in the 1950's. Her Grandfather, Ernest G. Schweikert and Lyricist Frank Reardon wrote for the likes of Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis Jr., Guy Lombardo, Carmen MaCrae, The Four Aces, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, etc. Having not received any of the royalties owed to him, Ernest became so disheartened and angry that he threw away all of the musical compositions he had ever written and never spoke of it again.

In 2004, Melissa's Grandmother, Norma, extracted a promise from her Granddaughter to find her late husbands lost compositions. Norma passed away the next day completely unexpected and so it was that Melissa's journey truly began. She has since found hundreds of songs her Grandfather and Frank wrote together and has focused her attention on bringing new life to the beautiful music they left behind.

Coffee In Connecticut
A beautiful song with a timeless quality that can only be compared with some of the greatest standards of all time.

Easy Listening Jazz Vocals

                                    h

Porquois Dois Te J'aimer
An elegant song with a very sexy yet innocent vocal that will leave you feeling romantic, sophisticated and extremely relaxed.

Bossa Nova
h
                                    h

The Things You Left Behind
Another timeless song written by Schweikert and Reardon which seem to have been written for the sweet, sultry vocals of Melissa Marquais.

Ballad
h
                                    h

As Young As You Feel
This tasteful bossa-nova song reminds you that you really are as young as you feel.

Bossa Nova

                                    h

How Do You Say Goodbye?
Originally written for the Broadway Musical "Rumple" which starred Eddie Foy Jr., Gretchen Wyler and Elliott Gould, Marquais delivers her own jazzy flavored rendition of the song with the same sweet, sensual vocals she is becoming known for.

Ballad

                                    h

It's Beginning To Look Like Spring
This song starts off as what you think will be a ballad and changes tempo into a fun upbeat swing tune! Sax solo by Jim horn is awesome!

Swing Jazz

                                    h

Close
This romantic song is not only about falling in love. It's about staying in love. The tender vocals capture the mood of this song perfectly and the masterful horn solo is a brilliant splash of tasteful flavor to an already beautifully written piece of music.

Ballad

                                    h

To Have Loved
Melissa has taken what was originally written as a Broadway show tune and simplified it to a basic piano/vocal that is heavy on the heart but very easy on the ears. Lyrically and musically this song is a perfect marriage and Marquais vocals only seal the deal. A song about being grateful to lose love just to have had the opportunity to love so much in the first place. Another masterpiece by Schweikert and Reardon.

Acoustic Ballad
