We've just released our fourth album "Raw Flowers". It was recorded live in two days at Piety Street Recording in New Orleans, LA. Oh, the things we did to get there from Chicago! The vibe we were shooting for is the anticipation of the night to come, sitting on the porch swing watching traffic go by at dusk, drinking a Beam and Coke, chatting with your neighbors.
We're currently working on an immediate follow-up called "Farm Life" which we're recording here in Chicago at Engine Records. We are addicted to recording. Both albums are full-length records and are available at flamesharkmusic.com and iTunes. Thanks for checking in with us.
Kill Me With Your Sunshine
Yup, we did it.
A song about triumph and recognizing a good thing when it comes your way.
City of Boundaries
A song about realizing there are limits and sometimes it's not that cool to go beyond them.
Older Than Gold
A song about my time spent in Baton Rouge, getting drunk, smashing bottles in the street, hanging out with the neighbors and the characters on State St. The setting is at the North Gates right in front of the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. The place has an energy you can feel if you've ever been there. Hope you enjoy it!
A song about...Moving On! The song is dark, but still hopeful. Sort of a white boy's blues.
Whipping Boy For All the Lost Soul
A song about feeling like the people are piling it on.
A song written by Mike "Goldenwings" Meske. Horns by the Chicago Horns. Our idea for this song was to capture sort of a Las Vegas Elvis feel mixed with Americana.
Definitely one of the saddest songs I've ever written. I wrote this in my brother in law's basement during the middle of winter in Madison, Wisconsin. I was sad and depressed. My brother and his girlfriend were visiting and I "watched him walk up the stairs" which is a lyric in the song.
New Year's Day
A song about New Year's Day 2008.
