Shane Willard/Mike Lance

A song I wrote in 2008, recorded 2009/2011. I had been prevented from seeing my son for a time which made me really depressed. The girl I was with ended up leaving me in large part because she couldn't handle me at my worst. This is basically me being regretful for my depression and how it pushed her away. Fast forward to present day and I'm with someone who is there for me in the good times and bad, so as painful as it was at the time, it had to happen to get me to the one I was meant for. I'm able to post this now as I've gotten enough emotional distance from it that it seems like another person to me. I'm no longer regretful for who I am.
Intertwined by the wrist you and me
Your head on my heart and my heart on my sleeve
It was just you and me and our child to be
We were young with the world at our feet
We were one, we were two, we were three
and it all tumbled down and it's all 'cause of me
I'm in peices you see
Now the worst grows in me
I'm a plaugue of despair and disease

Maybe I see why you had to leave
'cause it's one place I'd rather be
then here trying to kill this disease

Our bodies united by sin
I'll take what you have and you have what I give
I'm entirely yours
You're my love I'm your sore
I took all but I had to take more
I'll regret everything that I've been
Take back all my words and erase what I've seen
Just for one second more
Just for one more embrace
To remember the way that you taste

Maybe I see why you had to leave
'cause it's one place I'd rather be
then here trying to kill this disease
Alone
