When you see the war and suffering
And it implicates us all,
The poet said, No man is an island,
You can’t deny the breath in us all.
But you know we can’t give up,
And surrender to the dark,
Our fathers and mothers taught us,
Pay attention, make a start.

And take the time to see.
You’ve got to hold sacred
And start to believe
You’ve got to hold sacred
Heart and soul.
There’s so much that can keep us
From being who we ought to be,
There’s too much noise for us to hear
And too much light for us to see.
Put your faith in honesty
Put your faith in love
Put faith in understanding
Try to listen, don’t just talk.
You can dwell among the living,
But you can’t wake up the dead.
You can honor them with goodness
And listen to what they said.
