This Christmas

It’s that time of year when people think of the Bethlehem star.
It’s that time when people run up their credit cards.
But this year we won’t be prey to the retail machine,
We’re gonna make it through lean and clean this Christmas.

You may not get exactly what you asked for this year.
We’re huddled warm by the fireside heat,
Trying not to get thrown out on the street.
We’re on a budget, so here’s a song for you this Christmas.

It’s that time of year when lots of cool things are on sale.
You can feel it in the streets and on the bus.
Those sons of bitches are trying to bankrupt us.
They’ll have to settle for just our love this Christmas.

This year we won’t increase the GNP,
It’s homemade gifts and heartfelt family letters.
It’s time to focus on what really matter.
Drop us a line, we promise we’ll be home this Christmas.
