Life changes on a dime...
Not a Scratch

By the time I'd left the party
I'd had far too much to drink.

Should have let her drive.
Sometimes my pride don't let me think.

Rolling down that winding road.
Towards more damned weight than i had ever seen...

Oh Lord, ...but not a scratch on me.

When they tried to pull us over
We were headed towards the dawn.

Trying to stretch my yesterday,
I find tomorrow gone.

Smoke, and fire, and twisted metal,
broken glass, was such a sight to see.

Oh Lord, ...but not a scratch on me.

And all good people bow their heads,
and wonder if their fate is heaven sent.

But, as for me send my regrets.
A short drive home one night.
I just cant forget.

Said the preacher: "Man absolve yourself,
there's no way you could have known"

Could have just stayed over,
but it seemed so close to home.

Served my time. That's all behind me.
It's just that late at night, I sometimes hear her scream...

Oh Lord, ...but not a scratch on me.

And all good people bow their heads,
and wonder if their fate
is heaven sent.

So RSVP my regrets:
A short drive home one night,
I just can't forget...
