It all started when I scraped my knuckles moving boxes out after my divorce. You see times were tight, and she said we'd have to cut back on spending for frivolous things which meant I had to give up drinking beer. Well I was OK with that until I came home and found out she had spent $65 on make up. Can you imagine? She said, "But honey, I bought it so I could look beautiful for you."
And I said, "That's what the beer was for."

Scrapin' Knuckles

Kerry Miller © 2007

Itm scrapin' knuckles trying to get out of here.

I'm building muscles just trying to steer.

Move it to the lefi; move it to the right,

And start all over 'cause it's too tight.

I'm moving mountains of boxes and pain
Across rivers of pouring rain.
Out into the cold, out into the night
To start all over but it's not right.

It's a January wind in my face,

But I got to get out, out of this place.

And there's a message in the stars that don't shine:

That I got to get out, out with what's mine.

She said, "Pack up and get out of here."
She doesn't want me; she made that clear.
So it's out into the cold, out into the night
To start all over, but it's not right.

I'm chasing rainbows in the fliture I fear.
I'm drinking cases of imported beer.
Trying to have some flin, trying to see the sun,
But it won't happen 'till I get this done.

I'm scrapin knuckles trying to get out of here.
I'm building muscles just trying to steer.
Move it to the lefi, move it to the right
And start all over to do it tonight. again
