Fast pop song about a delusional young man

I did actually see the things in the first verse, but I don't know if they were breaking up or not.
He dumped her, in the botanical gardens
On a magical winters day
She started, screaming and crying
Tears twinkled on her face
Didn't seem like a big deal
He just clenched his teeth
And tried to calm her down
Because it was a bit embarassing
He'd forgotten, all the little things
Stupid little things they used to do
And although, they sometimes disagreed
Their personalities really did suit
Now he's chasing his ideals
Like a bird flies into glass
In his mind he sees utopia
Through his eyes a big mirage

In his memory, he paints a glorified picture
Although some might call it a hoax
His ego, stands on a pedestal
And tells the mind how the story goes
Is it a mental illness, to cover up the truth
Or essential safety padding from the awful things we do?
