The story Of Dred Scott. In 1820 The Missouri Compromise allowed for Slavery to exist below the 36th Parallel. Dred Scott lived in a Free State. His master moved to a Slave State and died there. When he lived in the Free State was he Free and thereby no longer a slave? It went to The Supreme Court where 7 judges ruled that he was property and was not nor never was entitled to citizenry or freedom.
