Beautiful and Melodic Folk Ballad

Copyright Jennifer Friedman 2005

Look at us now
we’ve got the world upon our shoulders
anchored upon the shore of manifest destiny
and oh, I’m so sorry and
oh, we’re so tortured
in our diplomatic, democratic compromise
oh, and it’s consciousness
that’s led to our misfortune
cuz now we know what we’ve done
yes, now we know what we’ve done
When will the world start listening
and will the moon forever shine
these words we speak shall leave this earth
in time I know we shall all be free

The Noise Collector
A sad-sweet melody that seems to say something about the mess we are in/the suffering we have caused in Iraq, without saying so in so many words...that's open to interpretation. Jennifer has a lovely, lilting voice...but she is not afraid to use it to sing about a subject that some may prefer to ignore.
