Jilly The Challenge welcomes "The Rhythm Kings"
Jilly The challenge welcomes Dave Gravis (whether he agrees or not) haha!
Jilly Well FT is up for it, but I hope his next one is a bit longer :)
Jilly J D Gravis has been quite busy lately, love the latest :)
J.D. Gravis Thanks Jilly for adding "Lunatic"! More on the way...
Jilly Lunatic is SO good and So fast... more please!
Jilly and now two tramps, songs are coming fast and furious now
Jilly My 5th week song is up today, not the one I planned, it came out of the blue
Jilly 4th one (I think) from J D Gravis who's on a real roll
J.D. Gravis Hi Jilly, thanks for adding 'Any Old Stone', I really appreciate your kind comments!
Jilly It really is a pleasure Dave, I like everything you produce, you should know that
Jilly A nice surprise to find our Stoneman in the challenge with a big entry - follow that :)
shey fenner i've just uploaded a song - Vine Run - so to enter the competition is it just a question of uploading another song next week say?
Jilly That's right shey, but it's not so much a "competition" as a personal challenge - however I guess it may be the case of 'Last one standing' wins :)
Jilly It must be protest day today as we get two powerful messages from Stoneman and Negative Tendencies joining us this week
Shey Fenner OK - thanks Jilly - i get it ...
Jilly I just added my WEEK 6 song, can't believe it's gone so quickly
shey fenner i'll be posting my next song Wednesday again ...
Listener Interesting idea for a station
J.D. Gravis "I don't want to go there" Very nice arrangement and vocals!
Jilly Thanks Dave, I wasn't entirely happy with it but doing one a week is quite a challenge isn't it!
Jilly Bruce from The Rhythm Kings is right up to date with the latest new track

Speed songwriting at its IMPetuous best
I'm attempting to write a new song each week during 2019 in a variety of genres.
I thought other artists might be tempted to try this demanding challenge too. Let me know if you're in. As long as you upload a new song regularly (weekly or monthly if that's easier) your song will win a place on my station. New Songs every week or month from IMP artists * Get over here!

The Rhythm Kings
Color Outside The Lines
TRKs not only color outside the lines, they think outside the box... and each week come up with a charming new idea. One of the things I like about this band is their skill in finding that perfect little riff to fill the right space. added to station 2/13/2019 3:06:46 PM

So So
You don't often hear a song like this, it's filled with a soulfulness, a plaintive poignancy, a chant-like performance built around repeated chords. But at the same time Shey gives hints of the shallow nature of life, an almost teasing and irreverent vocal style. Very unusual style, hard to pin down. added to station 2/14/2019 7:07:24 AM

I don't want to go there (wk 6)
I had so much trouble deciding how to put my lyrics to music, I think I did 20 different versions but this was what I ended up with, kind of Country Rock with a topping of Folk and a really catch chorus. added to station 2/11/2019 6:50:25 PM

Statue
Diversity indeed! A Rock song that's impossible to ignore both in lyrics and musical production - enough to blow Lady Liberty clean out of the water. The sound is really packed and punching just like the message. The vocal riff takes no prisoners but pounds upon the walls of perversity with it's relentless inflection of acerbity about the States of adversity in US today! added to station 2/8/2019 5:13:28 PM

Vine Run
Welcome to the Challenge shey. This is an interesting lo-fi production with minimal lyrics but it finds a groove in the psyche after a while. Nice to have another participant from the UK. Looking forward to next weeks offering as after reading the bio I'm intrigued. added to station 2/8/2019 5:26:56 PM

Oh Oh Oh
Wow! what a powerful, moving song to launch Stoneman's songwriting challenge. The start is kinda scary but it all falls into place when the actual song takes off. The "Oh, oh, oh" motif is key to the meaning of this important message. What an outro too ! added to station 2/8/2019 6:17:21 AM

Any Old Stone
The lyrics on Dave's latest s.a.w. entry are superb, so much observational philosophy and clever phrases. Think High Hopes (Rubber plant tree song) Comforting presentation, well worth a listen. added to station 2/5/2019 5:31:58 AM

Two Tramps In Mudtime
I bet Robert Frost never imagined his writing would end up as a melodic, sensitive song like this. Good poetry is a great inspiration. Another week another song for this artist. added to station 1/30/2019 9:11:39 AM

Drop The Hammer, Let's Roll
This one really speaks to a listener - a classic blues song lifted to new heights by the screaming guitar which undulates from way up there to deep down there in a grungy, attention seeking way that shows no mercy. The strong, steady vocal holds it all together with a dominant, hammering crack of Rockin' Rollin' lyrics added to station 2/1/2019 5:34:34 AM

It's just a book (s.a.w. 5)
I haven't done a controversial song like this for ages but it worries me that so many bad things are influenced and incited by and in the name of questionable documentation. I don't doubt that belief is a comfort and inspiration for some people but there are extremists who take old stories literally to justify evil acts added to station 2/4/2019 6:33:07 AM

Bite Off The Hand (s.a.w. 4)
Quite a disturbing song, hard hitting vocal questioning with insets of choral harmony, a Blues beat with flutes trailing alongside. Rather Left field added to station 1/28/2019 7:29:27 AM

Oh I really like this latest entry from The RKs - it's like a traditional Country swinger but it has a couple of killer notes that make it special.... also like the 5 note extended "here" added to station 1/16/2019 6:08:45 AM

Reduced Circumstances (s.a.w. # 2)
The Week 2 song is lively musically but the subject matter is deep. There's a nod to the serious nature coming in the repeating "Oooooos" and the soaring strings. added to station 1/14/2019 12:27:25 PM

Calling Out
A powerful start for Bruce's challenge with this deep and personal tale in recognition of a lost soul with challenges to be faced. There is a slow, pulsing rhythm (well this is The Rhythm Kings) Although it has the style of a 'voice crying in the wilderness' production it is more earnest, maybe wistful than sad or plaintive. The "Calling out" mantra is sung with such conviction. Not sure if they'll be another entry next week or next month but I look forward to it. added to station 1/10/2019 4:37:10 PM

Weak Knees [s a w # 1]
Here we go then, the first song for the 2019 regular upload challenge. Quite an ambitious one to start off... there's a chance that the quality and length may deteriorate as the year goes on... or maybe not, maybe regular practice will up the game.
