The Black Umbrellas was a project created back in the early 2000's, an era where broadband internet was luxury. We had a Casio keyboard's built-in rhythm section, a few microphones, and Sony's Acid to work with. Brent was into Weezer and John Mayer, I liked Fastball, and Matt A. favored bands like Wilco and Modest Mouse. Despite the limitations of technology, I like to think we put together some unique and entertaining tunes that fuse the best of all those influences.

We had a Casio keyboard with a built-in rhythm section, a few microphones, and used Sony's Acid for our recordings. Each of us brought our own musical influences to the table—Brent loved Weezer and John Mayer, I was into Fastball, and Matt A. leaned towards Wilco and Modest Mouse. Despite our technological limitations, I believe we created some unique and entertaining tunes that blended our diverse styles beautifully. Lea J.@Sydney Excavator
