Dave Boyes is a British born/Madrid based singer/songwriter, who writes & records his own compositions in his home studio(well it..s actually a corner of his lounge). Dave has been playing guitar, harmonica & singing his own tunes, since he went off traveling with his brother in the nineties. Although he first learned to play guitar growing up from his parents who both loved to sing & play Bob Dylan & Beatles numbers among many others. While travelling Dave had a lot of time to play & the chance to meet, play and share ideas with people from all over the planet. This was a defining period in his musical development. The songs you can here on this page are taken from his 2007 "Outside" E.P. When not writing at home, he plays guitar & sings along with his mates in the Madrid rock outfit "Chips"(www.myspace.com/thechipsrock)see below. He listens to & is influenced by many musical styles ranging from indie, rock, folk, psychedelic & blues to bossa nova, funk, jazz, electronic & world music. From a singer/songwriter perspective, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Neil Young and Elliott Smith are a constant source of inspiration. He is concerned about the state of this planet & is therefore a member of Greenpeace & tries to give his support to other organisations that help the underprivileged & protect mother earth. He can also be heard on other musical projects under the name David Jay.
