The German city of Rostock is known for heavy industry as well as an idyllic harbor. The indie-rockband Rostock also demonstrates a noisy, heavy side, as well as a harmonic and melodic one. Fast and noisy rock explosions generates the core of the music, the band however soften up the noisiest corners with a melancholic and melodic harmony. The six members of Rostock eagerly throw themselves head first into a musical dimension defined by wild rock excursions as well as harmonic and rounded vocal- and guitar melodies. They do so with intensity and inspiration from bands like The Cure and Dinosaur Jr.
The sound of Rostock is the sound of a band, which enjoys playing together and loves to perform live. The band will show up anywhere with room enough for some drums, a solid bass, a husky vocal and three noisy guitar-amps.
The six friends and members of the group Rostock got together for the first time as a band in the late 2005 in a garage south of Aarhus. The group has now moved from the garage and into the city spending their time rehearsing and developing their style of melodic and noisy indie-rock.
The members of the band were all at some point in the 1990's teenagers with long hair wearing Sonic Youth or The Cure t-shirts and a love for noisy and aggressive rock music is definitely a unifying element in the band.
The band has done a lot of shows in small bars and venues around Aarhus and Jytland; including a release-party at Sway in October 2008 celebrating the release of the three tracks promo-demo Dead Is A Preposition. The demo presents new material as well as songs, which have been a part of the Rostock repertoire for some time.
