Skeleton at the Feast
As the title suggests, a haunting, melancholy song. A plaintive hurdy gurdy brings the song in. There are elements of prog rock, emo, folk-rock, classic rock, pop and alternative.

Flying Over the Ocean, featuring Tiana Pye
Energetic, spirited, driving, fun, melodic, uplifting, inspirational. If you like Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, and other melodic pop-rock, you might dig this.

Anything
I would describe this song as a power ballad? In the vein of Nilsson, Bryan Adams, Ryan Adams, Aerosmith, Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Waiting for My Life (To Start Again)
Edgy, dark, pulsing, soulful, modern rock that's slightly industrial, with electronica touches.

Stand
Yes, it's an honest-to-gosh protest song. Melodic, with a strong chorus - a little biased - and shades of Counting Crows, The Beatles, Bruce Hornsby, Todd Rundgren, Hootie and the Blowfish, 60's folk-soul-rock. But I wouldn't necessarily call it retro.

Never Saw a Woman
I traveled back in time to Philly, circa 1972, and stole this song from Sigma Sounds Studios...or was it off the air from WFIL-AM, Boss radio? If you like Motown and Philly Soul, you'll either dig or be offended. This is probably more Gamble and Huff and Thom Bell and Linda Creed, vs. Holland-Dozier-Holland. Think Spinners, O'Jays, Delfonics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, etc. Right on, man!

Now It's Time
Hard to categorize this song. It's pop, it's soft rock, it's indie, it's a little alternative folk-rock, in the vein of Nick Drake. I picked "easy listening/soft rock as a 2nd genre, but it's not "easy listening" to me. It's a pretty song, a little quirky, to me. Thanks for listening

I'll Step Aside
Our model for this song, or at least my model, was Tame Impala's "Let it Happen." One of my favorite bands these days. Now, you may listen and not detect a smidgen of Tame Impala. I'm having trouble hearing much of that influence myself. But trust me, it was the inspiration. Anyway, to me, another kinda uncategorizable song. Could be rock, could be pop, could be alternative/indie, could be singer-songwriter. They don't have that category. If they did, that's probably the genre I'd pick for most

Bitter Wine, featuring Katie Kuffel
A little Norah Jones-Diana Krall vibe, perhaps? Pop, jazz, blues, soul. It's in there. Katie Kuffel, an amazing talent and songwriter par excellance sings on this song, which I wrote. Thanks, Katie!

All You Ever Do is Rain, featuring Maddy Dullum
Another song inspired by the women in my life. I seem to pick a lot of "glass half-empty" types. "Debbie Downers." Thought about Eurythmics ("Here Comes the Rain Again")and Garbage ("Only Happy When it Rains") after this song came out.

The Violence of Your Heart, featuring Katie Kuffel
People have said this reminds them of a Florence and the Machine song. Hey, I can hear that. To me, it's a little Amy and Adele, with some Laura Nyro in there. Definitely a soul/rock/pop hybrid. Katie's voice is so GREAT! She makes the song. Recorded at the legendary Robert Lang Studios.

Anthemic. (Hopefully, not anemic.) A song about waiting. Waiting for love, waiting for the long arc of morality to bend toward justice, waiting for all of us to wake up and see.

Everything is subjective, we all know. That said, I THINK this might be for fans of: The Beatles, Oasis, Thunderclap Newman, Matthew Sweet, The Shins, Tom Petty, Goo Goo Dolls, ELO, etc.

Mining the same sonic underground as Gary Jules' "Mad World." Piano, strings and voice come together in this reflective, blue, even angry, offering on our much-vaunted and sought-after pursuit of happiness. Not all it's cracked up to be. Into the Blue
A song about innocence, and innocence lost, confusion, idealism, hope, friendship, nostalgia, drugs, dreams, and whatever you want it to be about. If you like singer-songwriter stuff, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Oasis, Randy Newman, the Eagles, Counting Crows, Ryan Matthews, Beck, etc. you might like...

Dream pop. Lush, dreamy, spacey. If you like Beck's "Morning Phase," Pink Floyd, mellow brit pop, psychedelic leaning songs, with a touch of prog rock, you might dig. There's also some singer-songwriter juju going on. And, at the end, some soulful leanings.

The Man in the Window, Featuring Abby London
From a review by Mark Taylor of Simply Pop Music: A work of art!!! If this doesn't make you stop and listen, then nothing will. Lyrics weave a story that grabs attention from the opening, the beautifully haunting voice of Abby London fits perfectly. This is a well crafted song, a work of such beauty that deserves to be a massive hit. Dim the lights, put those earphones on and enjoy.

Poppy, upbeat;
boppy, bittersweet!
Abby London's influences are Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, and other slightly quirky singers! Some might hear a little Cyndi Lauper and "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," or Katrina and the Waves, "Walkin' on Sunshine," when they listen. Or not. Someone said sounded like Disney radio from the 90's and early 2000's. We'll take it. We dare you not to tap at least one toe. Special props to the other singer on this pop tart, Kylie Nelson. And also to our maestro, engi

I can't tell song genres any more. Definitely rock, a little pop, a little retro New Wave/pop, in the vein of Echo and the Bunnymen, INXS, Roxy Music, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, The Fixx, et al. Also a little heartland/West Coast angst rock. (I can hear, for example, Chris Isaak singing this.) Singer-songwriter too. (That's me.)
