Swank was a band of teenage (ages 15-17) brats from Kirkland Lake Ontario Canada that raised hell in the northern Ontario punk scene in the mid-late 90s. The band, whose recordings include "Kill More Animals", "Live at The Baloney Show" and "Dr. Gold's Poontang Paradise", were together from 1995 to 1997 with numerous line-up changes; however, the core of Tito Satana and Melvin Klein remained constant throughout. In 1996 Swank recorded “Dr. Gold’s Poontang Paradise” at Latrine Recording on a 4-track cassette recorder and released it locally under under local indie label Triple Six Records. Triple Six Records would go on to release cassettes by New Liskeard bands Lyme, King Fuzz and Hand. The members of Swank would continue to create music individually and with other bands. Tito’s future projects include The Intesteens, Cottonfoot and Magicforce. Melvin would transition to guitar and vocals and form The Big Wow. Jerkules would go on to form The Deefons. The Great Hygiene later played in a band called Too Fourty and fought a lifelong battle with an autoimmune disease called scleroderma. She passed away in April 2020 and is sorely missed 💙. RIP old friend.
