The Sky Hits The Ground   My most recent music. A collaboration with IMP artist Mike Lance
Mike Lance   My collaborator in The Sky Hits The Ground and a great folk artist in his own right.

Who are you? "I hardly know, sir, just at present at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then."
My name is Shane and I started playing guitar in 1992 when I was 13 years old. I got a piece of shit guitar, learned a few chords and like many my age at the time I started a band. I grew up in Kirkland Lake Ontario Canada in the midst of a youth driven DIY punk scene in the mid-late 90s. Kids made bands, put on their own shows, recorded their own albums and put them out for other kids to hear. A group of kids made a legitimate school club called the Imperial Order of Low Budget which was used to allow the local bands, who attended the school, to rent halls and use the school's equipment to put on shows. The money made from the shows was used to buy recording time for local bands at a small local home studio. I was never part of the club but my life was significantly affected by the butterfly effect it created. We met kids from nearby towns who were putting on their own shows and the scene grew through melding with other local scenes. Bands traveled to play shows in their towns and the other bands came to play in Kirkland Lake. It was a great way to grow up. On this page you’ll find music that I’ve recorded with the bands I’ve been in during my youth up to my most recent home recordings. You won’t find professional recordings, pitch perfect singing, or pop hits here. I came from a DIY punk rock scene in the mid 90s so a good chunk this stuff is recorded using a 4 track cassette recorder. What you will find is music made by my friends and I that was created purely for the passion of making music at a time when the music was all that mattered.
