Hailing from San Diego, CA, Appleseed is a 4-piece rock band that creates their own brand of southwestern Americana skewed with emperimental tinges, indie-rock overtones, and pop sensibilities. The resultant sound is one that is wholly unique, yet with wide-reaching appeal. Appleseed has existed for as long as founding brothers Nick (vox/guitar) and Mike Santaniello (drums/percussion) have been playing music together, which to say quite a while, although for much of this time the project existed wihtout a name and a general direction. Such is the course of youth. It was not until constant prodding by friends and family members regarding their talents that Nick and Mike decided to parlay the musical ideas they had been kicking around all these years into something tangible. The product of this was the album ""Home"" released in 2005. Home, with its blues-driven rock numbers and folk-rock balladry, showed just how much talent the brothers had for recreating the classic sound of rock bands from the sixties and seventies, updated and infused with their novel approaches to songwriting. Shortly after the relaese of Home, Appleseed solidified into a full band with the addition of guitarist Felipe Benavides and bassist Erik Norgaard. Veterans of the underground music scene in San Diego, Felipe and Erik further enhance the Appleseed sound with their backgrounds playing in post-rock, experimental, and folk bands. Armed with a slew of new songs born from the full band's collaborative efforts and a new album in the works, Appleseed is set to make a name for themselves in their hometown and abroad.
