Jessica French is a recent graduate from Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, where she received her Bachelor’s of Music in Organ Performance, studying under Dr. Larry Smith. She started piano at age 7 and began organ lessons at age 14 while attending the Madeleine Choir School at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah. During that time, she studied organ with Robert Ridgell and Kenneth Udy.
Ms. French has played in numerous master classes with highly acclaimed performers such as Douglas Cleveland, James Higdon, Marie-Claire Alain, Peter Conte, and Paul Manz. In 2000 and 2001 she received first prize in the Utah State Fair Organ Competition. She was also the first prize winner in the Indianapolis chapter of the American Guild of Organists Competition and went on to receive second place in the Regional American Guild of Organists Competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2005. While at Indiana University, Jessica was a soprano in the Pro Arte singers under the direction of John Poole, and she studied church music with Marilyn Keiser, John Schwandt and Scott Elsholz. Jessica has been a frequent performer and accompanist, with venues including the Cathedral of the Madeleine, the Murray Concert Band and Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City, as well as St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Charles Catholic Church, Bethel Lutheran Church, and Christ Church Cathedral in Indiana. Jessica is now pursuing her Master’s degree in Organ Performance, with a full-tuition scholarship at Yale University, studying under the direction of Martin Jean. She is currently Music Director of St.Stephens Catholic Church, in Hamden, Conneticut.
